Evergreen Sushi Bar
Evergreen Sushi Bar is located in one of Zagreb’s liveliest areas, on Ilica between Britanski Trg and Frankopanska Street.
It’s a part of the city that constantly buzzes, where tourists, locals, students, businesspeople and passersby all mix. Within that urban flow, Evergreen has been operating for years. The restaurant is lively enough to capture the rhythm of Ilica, yet calm enough to relax over sushi and briefly escape the crowds.

Today, Evergreen can rightfully be mentioned as one of the most visited restaurants in Zagreb offering this type of cuisine. The quality is consistent and recognizable, while the prices are surprisingly affordable, making it a place that attracts a diverse crowd. What stands out is that Evergreen stays busy not only during the summer months and December, but also in January, when most Zagreb restaurants are half empty as their regular guests head off to ski resorts. Evergreen, on the other hand, keeps its rhythm, full of guests of all profiles, every day of the week.
What’s on the menu?
The menu always includes a selection of set menus, practical combinations of sushi and other dishes, perfect for those just getting into Japanese cuisine or simply looking for a quick, reliable and tasty option. Alongside that, there are various tempura dishes, spring rolls, several types of soups and gyoza, as well as a selection of fusion and wok dishes for fans of warm, aromatic flavors. The sushi offering covers all styles, from more creative signature rolls and classic uramaki to nigiri and sashimi, with a few desserts nicely rounding out the experience. The menu is rich yet easy to navigate, diverse enough to satisfy everyone while still clear enough so guests don’t feel overwhelmed. The wine list isn’t extensive, but it is thoughtfully curated. The wines pair well with the food and are priced in line with the restaurant’s overall style and philosophy. Evergreen strikes a specific balance in its offering, nothing stands out too much, nothing tries to be pretentious. Everything is measured, harmonious and designed for a pleasant, relaxed meal.

What did our chefs try?
We ordered the Kyoto Tiger spicy shrimp soup, a signature roll with shrimp, tuna and zucchini, ebi tempura (shrimp) and a sushi selection, which gave us a good overview of the menu and confirmed the consistent quality. When it comes to the food itself, Evergreen doesn’t overcomplicate things or go into unnecessary experimentation. Proven classics dominate, shrimp, tuna, salmon and sea bass, reliable, high quality and fresh ingredients that form the foundation of the kitchen. This simplicity and focus on dependable ingredients allow them to maintain a high level of quality day after day, without fluctuations or unnecessary complexity. The service is fast, pleasant and unobtrusive, exactly what you want from a restaurant that runs on the steady rhythm of the city. The staff is efficient without creating any sense of rush.

Evergreen also offers delivery, making it possible to enjoy a quick, quality meal even when you can’t visit the restaurant. Of course, delivery dishes are never exactly the same as those served on site, not because of a lack of quality, but because food is not just food. It’s the atmosphere, the service, the presentation and the energy of the space. All of that is what makes the Evergreen experience complete.

In the end, Evergreen is one of those places that easily fits into any day and any situation. It’s perfect for a casual or business lunch during the week, a relaxed Saturday meal when you’re feeling a bit lazy or as the start of a night out. On Sundays, like most of Zagreb, they take a break, but on all other days they run at full pace.
