Made in Pasta

Ulica Franje Petračića 28

Trešnjevka has a new spot that looks like it walked straight out of a culinary indie film, only with better lighting and more character.

The moment you open the door, you are greeted by a wave of warmth and the smell of fresh semolina. Flour floats through the air and behind the counter, a small daily spectacle unfolds: pasta being rolled, cut and shaped right in front of you, no filter needed. No sets, no hiding, just pure, honest energy and a kitchen that truly knows what it is doing.

The space is tiny, as if you have stepped into a private culinary studio that somehow became a public gastro hotspot, with a few seats by the window, just enough to sit down and watch your pasta come to life. People come in for takeout, delivery riders come and go, someone orders “just tiramisu,” someone else waits for coffee, specialty of course. Everything moves fast, urban and alive. This is food eaten on the go, in passing, in the moment. Takeout and delivery are the backbone of the concept, but if the expansion into the neighboring space happens, this could easily grow into a serious gastro destination in western Zagreb.

The pasta is made from scratch every morning in shapes that have both character and purpose: fusilli, ravioli, tagliatelle, pappardelle and radiatori. Each shape has its own vibe. Fusilli catch every bit of sauce, radiatori look like they were designed by an architect in a burst of creative inspiration and pappardelle wrap around the fork like a silk ribbon. The menu is focused, with fewer than ten dishes, but every plate has a clear idea and identity. Tiramisu comes in several flavors and sizes, like a small sweet wink whispering, “Go on, take one more. You won’t regret it.”

The drink selection is short but very well chosen: Cogito coffee that matches the seriousness of the food offering, plus a few juices and water.

We tried the osso buco pasta and the amatriciana, both prepared with textbook precision and clarity, with no unnecessary additions. The osso buco was deep, juicy and full of meaty flavor, while the amatriciana with paccheri was spicy, direct and exactly what we had hoped for. These are classics that convinced us the kitchen definitely knows what it is doing.

Made in Pasta could easily become a place that helps further define Trešnjevka as a gourmet neighborhood: modern, energetic, full of character and built around a clear idea.
